The Hari Raya not-to-be

A week has passed. Makcik and Pakcik are not likely to forget the Hari Raya of 30th August 2011.

During each of Hari Raya periods of past years we could expect not less than 80 ex-pupils of Almanar paying homage to the old couple of Almanar. This year, because of our untimely absence from Nuri, only about 40 of them managed to catch us at home after our return and before they had to leave KT for their places of work or learning.

We are sorry to have missed those dear old Almanar pupils, especially those who came with spouses or babies. There is next year, insya Allah.

Here are a few photos taken after Hari Raya.

Except for the last two the few shots recorded below show a few of those who turned up upon our return to KT three days after Hari Raya.

Dear Pak Cik,
Your Hari Raya never seem to be lonely. Despite most who didn't get to see you, there were 40 who did. It is equivalent to a bus-load of passengers. I'm sorry that your Allahyarhammah grandmother who passed on had put a tinge of sadness to it, but you had taken it most bravely.
Selamat Hari Raya once again! Who knows Shadah and I may join in the crowd next year in KT, yes, why not?

Salam,
Hank

Tumpang kita tinjau :Quran 17 Surah Al-Isra' 23-25
" ..And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them"Uff" -a word of disrespect, nor shout at them, but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wings of submission and humility through mercy, and say " My Lord! Bestow on them your mercy, as they brought me up when I was a youngster" ..... Your latest two stories guides us to the above reference less we forget. A need to be reminded ...Salam

Ayah Wang,

Hidup tentulah diselang seli dengan dugaan. Kalau tak lulus peperiksaan manakan dapat ijazah. Lama lama dapat PhD, tepuk dada beritahu semua dunia 'Hey, aku ni dah doktor tahu, kena panggil begitulah'. Janganlah jadi seperti itu harapnya. Dah lulus bermegah pula. Hiduppun begitu, ya Ayah Wang?

Bila bila singgahlah. Kami orang darat Batu Rakit nak dengar berita orang bandar.

C-o-S,

Memang ingin sangat hendak bersua. Harapnya jangan lah kena yang garang mencakar muka. Dah muka tua berparut pula!

Hank,

Shadah and you must not wait till next Hari Raya. Whenever it is all quiet, come over and be our house guests - minimal charge for first timer!

Salaam from us

Kotastar,

We ought to be reminded from time to time lest we forget who we truly are. Thank you.

Dear Pakcik,
Al-fatihah. I hope you realise that both of you have done all you can, with Makcik staying to care for her mother for long periods apart from you.

On the visit, we should make it a reunion of sorts? I know time availability differs but planning helps. What about November? Is it the monsoon yet?

Orang darat
Kehulu kehilir
Membuat kerja Allah

Bless you.

Ninot,

Thank you. School holidays beginning about mid Nov ought to be a good time. We should not worry about Monsoon, being so unpredictable these days. We like that 'winter' time, nice, cool (not necessarily so these days), and wet!

Temuk,

Tuan pun tentu faham sebagai bekas pendidik betapa gembira perasaan bila anak buah menunjukkan rasa kasih hormat mereka.

Salaam hormat

PakCik,
Of course Hari Raya carries a special meaning of its own to each and every person, nonetheless to me visits to renew our silaturrahim can be done anytime of the year. May Nuri be a special destination for all your graduates of Al-Manar throughout the year.

Assalamualaikum Pak Cik,

Al-Fatihah..semoga Allah SWT sentiasa mencucuri rahmat-NYA kepada ruh arwah your mother in law.

Tak ada rezeki to go to your place even thou I came back to K.L on the "raya enam"..didnt want to impose in your hours of grief.

InsyaAllah next time.

AHS,

Akhil aziz,I am sorry or this belated response.

I agree hari Raya should not be the only time to create silatul rahim. Hence, whenever you are in KT, please make a point to visit us. Preferably, tell us of your intended visit to this wild part of the country.

Salaam to you and family

Cheqna,

What a shame you felt that you should not impose on a 'hours of grief'. On the other hand that was the time we needed person like you to call on us, a cheerful sight, and a pleasant surprise - your next trip home.

But give us a call as we are 25 km from town and I would not want you to find our house empty when you have taken the trouble to drive all the way and back for nothing.
