Dear Pakcik and everyone in Al-Manar's blog community:No doubt you have heard of the great controversy happening at Ground Zero in Manhattan regarding the building of the mosque. My heart saddens. I share with you this: http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,2015518_2185139,00.htmlHow do we get the 'hand' poems out there for America to read?

The hatred goes on. Why? The hatred is good for business. If only words and poetry could help the healing...

Sdr Pak Chik,

Only late last night we saw the RTM program re ground zero.Semantic seems to be the problem. At least one. The ground in Manhattan is meant for a Muslim Cultural Center but focus seems to zero on the mosque as it would be effective to garner oppositions. We are sure the Muslims in US and the world at large would see that the objections be met equally with stronger force. InsyaAllah when we are in Manhattan nanti bolehlah melawat ground zero khusus sebuah Masjid disana. Terima kasih kpd Cik Jane kerana membawa kita meninjau ke masjid di US. Selamat Aidil Fitri kepada Sdr dan Keluarga.

By the way, a note for Jane. Tumpang laluan Pakcik.

The Hand, while was written as a tribute to people who give selflessly like Pakcik, was prompted by a picture put up by a US Blogger - Willow at www.magpietales.blogspot.com

I belong to several poetry groups in the USA and UK. And there are people from all nationalities and religion. Our discussion and respect for each other grows. In the beginning I remained neutral so that they can appreciate my ability to write good poetry. Now, they know more about me - the Muslim, the Asian etc and feel comfortable...I hope.

So not everyone in USA hates Muslims. And the more we reach out, the more they will understand.

I believe we all have a part to play, how ever small, how ever large.

As those who control the media are not pro Islam and in fact mostly anti-Islam... there is not much we can do to change that.. at least not at the moment..
I agree with what ninotaziz wrote "the more we reach out, the more they will understand".
Selamat hari raya idilfitri to Abang Hassan dan keluarga.

Ninotaziz,
Jane belongs to a very special family to Pakcik; a truly cosmopoitan one in all respects, successful and very dear to me. It is my desire to post something about this family. Jane has her own family, successful, needless to say.

KotaStar,
Indeed it is easy to distort a picture when one take selectively a part of the whole picture to suit ones purpose.
Selamat Aidil Fitri kepada sdr dan keluarga.

Ayah Wan,
I still cannot get over your 'goose chase' to get to the non existent SEBERANG Maras. This is how 'to reach out', an example of your way to make friend.
Salam mesra and Selamat Hari Raya from Abang Hassan and family.

Dear Pak Cik,
Opposition to the Mosque ‘at Ground Zero’ gained momentum when Sarah Palin ( the defeated V.P. candidate) and some other politicians came to the fray. To start with it was not a mosque envisaged ( a cultural centre rather) and it was not at G Zero but a few blocks away. But once politicians start meddling ( as happened also here) things get unnecessarily blown up ( pardon the pun)

It will ease off eventually. Good sense will prevail, I’m sure!

In your previous posting Pak Cik and Ma’ Cik Salmah had more or less sent out a standing invitation .

We ( read: Shadah and I ) if ever we are in KT we’ll certainly make a bee-line to Al-Manar.

‘ Yes, UMT on the right, UniSZA on the left , Al- Manar is just a stone’s throw away. InsyaALLAH, Yes!

Take heart dear Pakcik, there are so many things out there, issues being brought out and in light of soon to come (yet another) anniversary of 9/11, more heartache for Muslims. purrr....meow!

EID MUBARAK to you and yours....

I am looking forwrd to getting to know Jane better.

Thank you Pakcik, your blog makes people comfortable with each other, perhaps just like Al-Manar.

Akhi Hank,
I absolutely agree that we let the politicians do all the talking but without too much damage done before the good sense prevails.
And of course if you are not yourself a politician the invitation to visit our home is open. Otherwise we will meet at one of the coffee stalls here and join the village politicians condemning each other green and blue.
All my good wishes to you.

CiS
Are you trying to scare me into packing up my Almanar and all and run to hide down under? And you said another 11th Sept coming? But by then I would have already secretly celebrated my birthday, three days after celebrating Makcik’s! Let us not worry ourselves unnecessarily. Life is too short for that, with only one life, not NINE .. ha ha ..got you.
Selamat Hari Raya

Al-Manar said...

Ninotaziz,

I said to CiS above that we have only one life. Let us be ourselves and be sincerely comfortable with one another, forgiving and forgetting in the spirit of Hari Raya.

First of all I wish you, Salmah, anak2, cucu2 and anak2 angkat selamat hari raya maaf zahir batin. Has the invasion from KL that will shatter the tranquility of Nuri started yet?

Allah works in mysterious ways and 9/11 may be a blessing in disguise. Now the ignorant ones are more curious about islam.

When I was in Yemen I was surprised that I was the only muslim at the ma'had the rest were mostly from US, Europe, Australia, etc. all learning arabic and speaking arabic very well and it was really amazing.

One was a spaniard, a recent revert spoke arabic better than the natives and one a german lady doing her doctorate in Yale was doing islamic studies and learning the quran complete with tajwid, alhamdulillah I doa she be given hidayah. She said ever since learning more about islam she has given up alcohol and pork !!

My salaam and maa salamah

AMIMY,

The farther we travel the more enlightened we should be, as repeatedly mentioned in Al Quran.
And, as you said, it is equally true that there is blessing in everything
