Moment to Reflect (Pt 1) - Bila Musim Durian Tiba - berguguranlah

When autumn leaves begin to fall
Bila buah durian mula luruh kebumi
Sepuluh budak hitam

----------------

This morning a phone call from an old classmate brought the sad news that one of our normal biweekly lunch group of four passed away in KL following a heart operation... Ten days ago I called him up for our lunch, my turn to host, but he declined, not feeling too well. That was the last time I heard his voice.

So an Indian member of my lunch group has left us. In our group were one Indian, one Chnese and two Malays, a true Malaysian community, closely knit without false and pretension.

So I have lost another of my group of ’55. He is the 14th to leave us of the original group of 42. Yes, out of forty two fourteen, ONE THIRD, have gone. Who will be No. 15th ?

Two days ago I bought four very good local durians from a roadside seller. He had only about twenty fruit, all from his trees. “I know my durians, pakcik. They are good. Musim tahun ini tak panjang.” I paid the price he asked for and left to enjoy the fruit with my family.

It is just like “Musim durian dah tiba dan akan berakhir when the last has fallen”, a reminder.
--------------------
And this afternoon I received the following e-mail from my daughter:

‘Just to inform babah that my ex-school mate, a cancer patient, died this morning’

Dalilah Tamrin has departed. I often visited her blog to read and to admire the thoughts of an exceptional hamba Allah. She was one of those whose attitude towards life inspired me in my work. I listened to her words in the song composed, and I felt the way she felt of the unavoidable truth.

It is just like “When autumn leaves begin to fall”, a reminder

May Allah reward her with mercy

----------------------------

Biarlah kita

Berkhidmat kerana Tuhan untuk kemanusiaan

Dear Pak Cik,
‘The falling leaves down by the window, the Autumn leaves fall by with sorrow’

There’s hope as yet , there’s life abound and we’ll be there for the ‘morrow

Yes, Pak Cik ,life goes on for those that’s left to lighten the path of the youngs

To enlighten generations after with sweat and tears that’s what Pak Cik had always done

Keep at it, Sir, as I’ve mentioned once before keep the good flag flying!

The King of fruits the durians with succulent durian flesh within will be falling

Every season every year, for one and all for us to relish and for us to savour

And Pray to the ALLAH SWT the Almighty that we’re blessed with good health and good cheer!

Dear Pakcik,

I too feel the grief of the whole Malaysian blog community deeply saddened by RG's passing.

The selfish part of me wished I had known her better, but there is a part of me that rejoices in the way she has touched so many lives with her magical gift of tenacity, iman and simply beautiful way of living her words of wisdom and beauty.

Al Fatihah.

Isn't it strange that we appreciate people without bound when they are gone? It is a lesson to me always.
Keep writing and caring your loved ones.Alfathihah to those we love, who are no longer with us.

Assalamu alaikum, Akhi Pakcik.

Betul masa berubah. Zaman bertemasya menunggu durian hingga durian untuk sedekah. Brbiza pula dengan beberapa pokok durian dibelakang rumah mertua saya. Terlambat saja sudah dicuri orang. Ini gejala pemuda kita yang menghisap ....
Salaam

Wan,
I truly admire you for taking the trouble to accompany the jenazah. I think all those who read Arwah's blog cannot help feeling the way we feel. Alfathihah to her and those who have left us.

Hi Al-Manar, regret to read about your friend passing away. May he rest in peace. Always sad to lose someone close to us.

Was at Ninotaziz place noticed your comment of your love of oldies like Pat Boone, Pattie Page.
Me too....strictly oldies and Country and Western.
Wayyyyy to go, Al-Manar.
You have a nice day and keep a song in your heart, best regards, Lee.

No kidding, you can't be as old as I am! You ought to address me 'Pakcik'.
You too keep an oldie in your hert, like the Autumn leaves ...
With good wishes to you Lee.

Assalamualaikum Pakcik,

From Allah we come, to Allah we shall all return.

I noticed that we appreciate our loved ones without bound only when they are gone. Why can't we show the same appreciation to the living, I wonder.

Aishah
And salaam to you.
Hopefully we all live and learn from our past, and from what happens to people around us. With patience, all ought to be well then.

Fara,
If I am not mistaken you ought to be finishing this year and be returning to Malaysia, KT in particular. Durian Darat Batu Rakit season has just begun. The main road to your home is lined with duriang sellers. I look forward to seeing more of you soon.

Salam PakCik,

I've been clicking this posting since you first posted it but found it hard to write any comment at that time until now. Last weekend while driving to Damansara from K. Kangsar, my parent mentioned about our new bathroom that is bigger in size so that it is easy to "mandikan jenazah". He said according to age.... his time is nearer...

It then reminded me about your posting and you.

It also occurred to me that if I am the one, I don't have that much to leave behind as legacy....

Dear Yongzu
I wonder how you have been keeping. I mean to ask you to teach me how to go on the air! I will write to you separately.
Tell your father not to think too much of tomorrow. Just do what he can today. And drive him for a trip to KT and be our guest. Believe me he will love it.
Salaam from Pakcik
