With my deep regret

OUT OF ACTION AGAIN

This time it is not because of cable theft but the flood. Our home is still in one piece, Alhamdulillah; but we are without streamyx. I have to travel some distance to ‘borrow’ a line to p[ost this message. But many around us are without home and food. It is all sad stories we have been hearing - not as much in the press!

Dear Pakcik,
Terribly sorry to hear of the sad state of affairs relating to the flood situation. One sees from the reports but when personally affected it is real sad. Bersabarlah agar semua nya akan pulih, InsyALLAH!

Pak AlManar, My sympathy....how can we help? Over here we seldom get the sunshine and have to find other ways to dry our clothes. Otherwise its like normal days.I hope our government has enough means and resources to help the affected people. If we have been practicing good governance, this should not be a problem.
Take care...

Let us pray this will be over soon. The government should reserve more fund for this purpose.Take care pak alManar...

My sympathies Pakcik, I am familiar with this year-end situation, house was flooded, electricity cut off, cooking while wading in the murky water but this year I think we are spared. Insha Allah things will be back to normal.

Assalamualaikum Pakcik Hassan. Semoga segalanya akan kembali pulih. Suami saya di Kuantan selamat lagi setakat ini. Alhamdulillah. Kami dari tempat lain sedang berusaha membantu sedaya mungkin. Semalam, dah hantar serba sedikit ke Kemaman. Pakcik Hassan di situ kah?

Dear Pakcik,
We on the west coast only experience flash floods due to bad drainage and bad planning, but not on a scale experienced by the east coast states during the monsoons. This time the floods are expected as an alert was made much earlier by the weatherman. Though the organisation in tackling such a situation had been place over the decades, but every flood situation differ from one another and the response from the authorities show that the people involved in relief operations is still wanting. May Pakcik and your area be able to cope with the situation.

I am perfectly well, Hank. My frustration is with Telekom Malaysia that has given poor services at least as far as my house is concerned. The number of service interruptions is more than a customer can bear. It has been a week my house goes without streamyx forcing me to borrow others’ line, generally restaurants. I can read incoming mails but to sit down blogging in a public place is out of question. I could wait no longer to post an entry about my driving ordeal in the rain. So I made a draft, went to a restaurant, sat in its car park and posted the entry. I copied comments and brought home to make this response in draft and will get to the car part again tomorrow to have it posted. I am far from happy with the latest entry which I could not edit properly. I have done justice to my visitors with that extra long piece of writing.

Salaam to you, my friend.

Ngasobahseliman,

‘If we have been practicing good governance’, you said. That is a big if, lady. We react as if we had never faced this problem before. It is just in degrees they differ. My house is by the beach which has not been known to be subjected to flooding or erosion. I was careful in selecting this premises 25 years ago. But I can never be sure. Even a whole island can disappear if He so decides.

Areas prone to flooding are those adjacent to rivers. I feel sorry seeing and knowing how many suffer. Again, as you rightly said, ‘‘If we have been practicing good governance’ !

Naniasda,

Yes, you are familiar with this annual situation. It comes and goes. All the same we cannot avoid the inconvenience as long as no real damage is done. But we, as individuals, cannot do much other than being generous in giving donation. But as Ngasobahseliman said above, ‘If we have been practicing good governance’ the suffering may be contained. I am sorry I am not able to visit you under the current problem I have been having with streamyx. Hope your area is spared from flooding.

Aziela,
Waalaikum Salaam to you, Madam.

AHS,

You know East Coast well from your years in service. You quite rightly said that this is expected to happen every year. The difference is in its severity. We do not have to think of Typhoons, earthquakes etc and are lucky at that. Ours is a yearly affair. I agree with you that our state of preparedness is wanting.

Alhamdulillah, my area is generally very safe, better than KL!

Walaikum Salaam young lady.

I am very pleased to see you again coming all the way from that beautiful country with snow, sunshine, rain, autumn leaves and all. I am on restricted blogging as you see from comments. It is so frustrating when I am denied the joy of blogging during my spare time. You would never know where you are, how frustrating it is when the state of communication is unreliable as we have to face here. When I say communication it is in its broadest sense. Imagine I had to take two days to travel 500 km by car (my posting above) and for one week I have been without line for my internet.

So stay where you are but drop by to give me some cheers. If only I could send you some durian, (or is it keropok lekor?) by internet!

Please drop in again. I will definitely show my face when I can gett over the current problem - not having to be in someone's parking lot to 'borrow' a line!
