And finally - A peace offering!

After class this morning I walked to my house just across the road to find a huge papaya waiting on the front doorstep and smiling at me. It was a huge one.

As the size was rather unusual I put it on a scale and, lo and behold, it weighed all of THREE kg. That should be enough for my three meals a day for three days!

Someone knew how to cheer me up, and that I needed it. It is unlikely that any one would confess to this attempted ‘bribery’!

Thank you Pakcik for putting the glasses next to the huge papaya. It was pretty hard to imagine until I read the 3kg part - a new born babe!

What a lovely gift - unique, healthy and sweet!

Wow! It's more than half my weight! I'm drooling at the sight of that humongous papaya. Lucky you, dear Pakcik. purrr...meow!

Ninotaziz,

A gift I can expect in this part of the world, an ikan kembong it could have been if the sea was no so rough as it is during this time of the year.

C-i-S.

No, it is not for you. I will take you to the beach behind my house and you try to catch one yourself for supper. Say meow.

Kama,

A 'sweet' gesture indeed, and in value for what it represents. That is not something we can buy, Hjjh.

Dear Pakcik,
Talking about meals, I met Ma’am for the first time today Dec 21, 2010. Ma’am exclaimed excitedly ‘this is the first time I’m meeting a blogger friend’. Since we were at the Club and it was 1245hrs, Ma’am invited me to stay on for lunch which I did. In the course of talking, Ma’am confirmed what I had suspected but daren’t asked Pakcik. That Pakcik had really taken the trouble to email Ma’am to extend pointers to me when I had voiced interest in her great offerings.
It came, not just pointers but lots and lots of goodness in poetry writing. The door opened wide and I’m now basking in all the goodness , all attributed to just that little nudge to Ma’am. Thank you Pakcik for making it happen! I did not leave until close to 1500hrs.
And I’d like to add that my loving wife Shadah and I had tea last Wed at 1630hrs at Datin Chom’s. Datin had got on to my blog while browsing and saw my earlier posting on her book launch – and invited us for tea. I’m now in possession of all 3 books, nicely autographed.

Looking at Ninot's comment.. the glass is there for scale..
A sweet gesture..it might be a peace offering ..maybe just from someone who thought a good "hadiah" to the cikgu is long overdue..
Take good care..

Akhi Hank,

I disclaim having done any acts of favour for one who is obviously more privileged and favoured, leaving me askance!

You see, you get invited by every one I know and what I get is a papaya. Com did not invite me for tea the last time we met.

Ayah Wan,

You miss the point.

Raise the glass
A toast in order
Or Yam seng
You prefer
Bottoms up
For me a good measure.

Do you see what I see?

Kaykuala,

I have some problem to post you following comment;

"Dear Pakcik,
Thanks, you always come back with your humour! "

I am glad you can take it. Life is too short to be otherwise.

Akhi Norzah,

It might be from one of the villagers. We are all quite friendly around here.

ARZ,

I wonder why you chose to go to facebook this time. I rarely open it. Somehow blog seems more attractive. You must be very busy to have left your blog without being updated as before.

As fir papaya, I do it every day, just like you. Happy new year which is coming soon.

Dear Pakcik

Growing up in my kampong we never had to buy any fruit as we were surrounded by all kinds of fruit trees in our kebun. At one time I was really jelak that I boycotted local fruits and only ate imported ones!!!.

Now it is the other way round, I love all kinds of local fruits but could not find some of them such as rambai (after eating rambais we children were warned not to run around too much - can get constipated as the seeds were swollowed whole and would accumulate THERE!!!).

Salam to you both and happy new year and may 2011 bring you more students.

Ha..ha.. ha..
I have been told that (I miss the point) quite a number of time.. being highly technical and cooped up in front of computer screens (we need at least two for seismic interpretation) for 3 to 6 hours daily ..probably made my view of life rather Myopic.. that's what my nephew told my sister..
I do see it clearly now..though.. I suppose I was just trying to get you a little rile up.. to see if I can get something unusual from you, some scolding perhaps, ha..ha..

Amimy01,

Typically human we all are, never happy with what we have in plenty, yearning for what we do not have around.
Happy new year to you, too.

Ayah Wan,

It is all in good spirit, especially before another new year, which will hopefully bring you a lot more success, especially the project.
