A Wild Thought

Something to puzzle

Note I have posted nothing here since 1.1.15 (not 1014 as kindly pointed out by UNKNOWN in the 'comments' below), twenty five days ago. Is blogging old-fashioned and one should move on? That thought is tempting. But today we have honoured guests, something for my thought to run wild.

Honeymooners, be aware!
Here is a home for the aged, home for the ones with just one dream.

There is sky up above, hard ground beneath and air to breath.
There is the deep blue sea and the spray and the seagull and its prey.
The sand, holding the roots of the palm trees,
The red dish rising over the horizon  to give warmth,
The silvery moon taking over to give light.

I see them all.

 I admire them.
 There lie my dreams.
Welcoming others to share.

Endlessly.

The puzzle and wonder.

  1. Dear Pakcik,
Beautiful poetry! Fantastic language structure. You need not wait 25 days to be inspired for this poetry! One dries up writing prose or narrations but not poetry. There is so much to write about. The sea and beaches fronting your front porch is a case in point!
And this is good advice for the honeymooners. The road ahead is jagged and pebbled. They ought to expect some difficulties here and there! Great write!

  4. Salam Pakcik,

I think blog has its own specialty. other platform might appear merrier, but here, I am more than happy reading this beautiful poem. It means deep, pakcik.

  5. Dear HANK,

Being poetic you are naturally philosophical, albeit too lavish in your compliments. Whenever I visit you I find some of your work easy enough to understand. Otherwise I feel the beauty of the poems but do not have enough in me to fully comprehend the depth of message.

    Thank you.

  11. Saintaicharles,

We have to do this sort of selfless critical thinking every now and then to remain human. I wonder as a teacher you ever go into philosophical thinking with kids, steering clear of going into religious pros and cons.

  12. WALKM Salaam Omong Mak Long. I was having a temporary sort of fatigue, to keep going or slow down. It is the age, in a way. Hence you look deep inside and come to term with reality. I envy following your movements around the big country with varied scenes, desert, snow and all. They look so refreshing.

Thank you for your encouragement to keep me trudging along.

    Salaam to you and family.

  13. How lovely, the description of wonders and its gifts, at your doorsteps, courtesy of The Almighty. I am thinking aloud here - do you still feel the exhilaration after penning that poem down, Pakcik?

There is sky up above, hard ground beneath and air to breath.

There is the deep blue sea and the spray and the seagull and its prey.

The sand, holding the roots of the palm trees,

The red dish rising over the horizon to give warmth,

The silvery moon taking over to give light.

    Beautiful.

  14. Salam Sdr Al Manar,

It has certainly been weeks and a month nor less when I manage to sneak in to yr writing again. The flood in the east coast is not a reason for not reaching you since the communication I believe is opened unless the electricity at Trengganu failed.Nevertheless I am sure all is in order now though there must be some ravages as you are by the sea sides.Yr poetry seems to assure a happy envisage of the comings ahead.

Salam to you and family for the 2015 which so quickly soon approaches the the third month. We pray for the continuing success and good health of ALMANAR and its caretaker.

  15. Assallam Pakcik,
How are you? It's been awhile. Hope pakcik and makcik are in good health always. I am still teaching despite a lot of paperwork and e-this and e-that in education now. one wonders what all those research on "beban guru" was all about. I'll give myself a couple of years more because my son is still studying. i'd like to share my article in sunday star recently if u missed it!

  16. Ninot,dear,

We had a newly married couple spending the night with us, so loving with plenty to say about so far which had brought them together. And here we were, fifty years down the line. But we have had things we never dreamed of then and we are grateful; hence my poem.

I felt how inadequate my poem was. Truly I told myself if I could have 'her' skill I would be proud of how I could express in words what I cold see with my mind's eye. You know who 'her' is.

Thank you for coming around to show a better alternative of saying it.

  17. WalkmSalaam, kotastar.

I dropped by to see your blog left without being updated - away again as usual!

My world is what I said in my poem, if you can call that. I am sure I will soon see a new entry, accompanied with pictures and all. Salaam to all.

  18. Walkm Salaam Puan Rahmah,

That is quite an eye opener for new teachers in English. You should do that more regularly as many do not have the sort of long experience you have. They would benefit from that. My hobby was putting down my thoughts in diaries - very private!

Thank you for alerting me. Hope to see more of this in future. Consider me a subscriber.

  22. Anim. Waalaikum Salaam

Terima kasih kerana bersama keluarga Almanar.

  27. 'All is Well' doesn't quite exist in my life dictionary, pakcik.. It's quite tough being a trainee nowadays. I wonder what should I do to satisfy those high-positioned seniors. Hurm.. I think I will send you an email. Haha. You need to listen to my grumbling again~ haha
